10,000 SHOT CLUB
In an effort to keep girls interested in basketball and at the same time improve their shooting skills, ERGYB is once again offering the 10,000 Shot Club. Starting June 11 through September 10, 2008 all girls who have participated in ERGYB basketball programs (in-house & travel) this past year have an opportunity to take part in and earn a spot in the 10,000 Shot Club.
To earn a spot in the club, each girl participating must take at least 10,000 shots over the course of the summer. Shots can be taken at home, a park, at camps or wherever you can find a hoop. The program will function on the honor system with each girl recording how many shots they attempted each day on a tally sheet. (You do not have to shoot everyday, i.e. vacations etc - the total shots taken at the end of the period must be at least 10,000 in order to qualify) Upon completion of the 10,000 shots within the specified time frame, the player is to mail the completed tally sheet, verified by a parent or legal guardian, to ERGYB along with a completed registration form.
Each girl who attempts at least 10,000 shots and submits their information will earn a spot in the ERGYB 10,000 Shot Club and receive a special 10,000 Shot Club T-Shirt in recognition for this accomplishment.
Any type of shot is acceptable in this program, as long as you are working on improving your shot accuracy. For best results we recommend a variety of shots such as lay-ups, free throws, and outside shots. Again, this is a self reporting program based on the honor system. It is our intent that each participant in this program has the integrity and commitment to make this program a success while improving their personal shooting accuracy.
This program was first offered two years ago and we had 22 players attempt at least 10,000 shots. Last year that number dropped to 3. Let's work at getting that number back up this year.
