In-House basketball is a community based developmental program for beginning or less experienced players in which players learn the fundamentals of basketball through practices and games. It is not uncommon to have players without any experience playing in all levels of our house league (1st – 9th grade).
Registration: All registration is done online and will close September 1st.
2018-2019 cost to play is:
1st - 2nd Grade: $100
3rd – 9th Grade: $120
1st-2nd Grade: This level of play introduces young players to fundamentals of basketball. Teams have practice for 1 hour a week and will compete each Saturday morning in standard skill drill competitions followed by a game. Game scores are not kept at this level. There are no referees. Coaches are on the court during games to help guide players. As the season progresses players are encouraged to follow basic rules such as no traveling, double dribble, etc. Baskets are set at 8 ft. Kindergarteners ready to play in-house basketball are welcome to participate.
3rd-4th Grade: Fundamentals and skills continue to be emphasized at this level. However, coaches also introduce the girls to game play strategies. Players compete each Saturday morning in standard skill drill competitions followed by a scored, refereed regular game. Players receive equal playing time. Baskets are set at 9ft. Our program is designed to develop players at all levels from beginners to those with a few years of experience. Practices are 1 hour a week.
5th-6th Grade: Teams at this level practice in Elk River, however, games are played in Rogers against Elk River, Zimmerman and Rogers area in-house teams. Practices are 2 hours a week (either two 1 hour practices or one 2 hour practice). Fundamentals are emphasized as well as game play strategies.
7th-9th Grade: Teams at this level practice in Elk River, however, games are played in Rogers against Elk River, Zimmerman and Rogers area In-House teams. Practices are 2 hours per week. In-House basketball should NOT be used as a “tune-up” for high school basketball as this program is a designed for a different level of play.
Teams: Team rosters are formed by the In-House director with the assistance of other board members. We strive to create evenly balanced teams based on coach evaluations from the previous year. There will be no “trading” of players without the approval of the In House director and both head coaches. Practices will start the week of September 9. Coaches will contact parents with practice times after the coaches meeting on September 8.
Coaches: Volunteer coaches are needed in order for In-House to be a success! If you are interested in coaching, please make that indication while registering your daughter.
There will be a mandatory coaches meeting and clinic on the morning of Saturday, September 7th.
The clinic is designed to help guide newer coaches with age appropriate drills & skills. It is also when coaches receive rosters and equipment bags, sign up for practice times and go over rules. We will also ask for information needed to run mandatory background screenings, which are required for all coaches.
Referees: Referee training is on Sept 7 at 10am at Salk Middle School. If you are a high school student interested in reffing In-House games this season, please contact the in-house assistant.
In-House Refund Policy: A refund of 75% will be returned BEFORE teams are formed. No refund of fees once teams are formed.
Questions or concerns should be sent to the In-House Director.
